June 2017
- 27th June 2017 - Episode 337 'The God that Failed'
- In which Mike and Matt talk about Daffcon and why the 2017 event was cancelled. This is sad as we hate letting folks down and we did. However we do end on a positive note as we talk about our hopes and dreams for the resurrected multi system Smogcon, though time will tell on that one.
- 24th June 2017 - Episode 336 'I Ascend'
- In which Mike and Matt talk many things, like the heat properties of glass, Test Match Special and of probably most interest to you, the gentle listener, campaigns. Mainly because Matt has had a very good idea about a town called Ascension that we are going to use to tie multiple different games systems together. meanwhile Mike has been writing a more traditional branching campaign for Dragon Rampant and putting together some rules for units to gain (and lose) bonuses depending on how well they do in the campaign. Frankly they are so enthused for the hobby that its almost nausea inducing, which means a huge hobby crash is probably just around the corner. Get em while it lasts kids.
- 20th June 2017 - Episode 335 'I always feel like, somebodies watching me'
- In which Mike and Matt are joined by the crew from Paranoid Miniatures to talk Mythos. Mike and Matt recently had a game (Matt won!!!!!) so we talk about what we found, how we felt the rules worked, miniatures, pretty much everything. What we discovered is that Mike knows nothing about rules writing, that there are ambitious plans for the game (several new factions and additional models for existing ones) as well as narrative campaigns that sound a lot of fun. RIP Brian Cant.
- 15th June 2017 - Episode 334 'Whats old is new again'
- In which Mike is again joined by a whole host of hangers on and a very special guest in the form of Justin Gibbs from Ninja Division. Justin has come on on the show to talk about the forthcoming Relic Knights (remember that) 2nd Edition that he is currently working on. We cover the basics of RK, what he feels are the USPs of the game and cover the substantial changes that he is making in this edition change over. If you have no idea of what Relic Knights is then Justin also explains that as well as the various factions. We also tackle one of the issues that killed 1st Edition in the UK, namely supply and get some pretty decent news. Enjoy
- 14th June 2017 - Episode 333 'Beware Rant Ahead'
- In which Mike is again joined by Conrad and Matt. Today Conrad goes off on one and Mike gets carried along with him, probably contradicting himself multiple times. Its come to something when Matt is the one on a podcast who isn't foaming at the mouth. If you ever listened to Grumpy Gamers then this will bring a tear to your eye.
- 9th June 2017 - Episode 332 'Well you won't be board!'
- In which Mike is joined by Conrad and Matt, something that normally brings disaster. The episode is supposed to be about board games but we start off with a long discussion about films specifically the new Arthur movie from Guy Richie. Eventually we do get to the games and discuss The Others, Blood Rage and Splendor amongst others.
- 7th June 2017 - Episode 331 'Something rotten in the state of Denmark'
- In which Mike and Matt talk spoilers. Not what happens when you leave meat out in the sun to long but what happens when the internet gets overexcited and post pictures of stuff that they aren't supposed to yet - like the new 40k stuff. They touch on movie trailers giving away to much, leaks from NDA programs and much more in a chat that was only supposed to be 10 minutes while they waited for Conrad to work out how to use Skype.
May 2017
- 31st May 2017 - Episode 330 'Welsh Open 2017'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk Warmachine MkIII and the recent Welsh Open. When we spoke to him a while back about the state of WM Conrad was noncommittal to say the least. Has he changed his mind? Is he enjoying the game again? Has he crushed all before him and become the uber champion. You will have to listen to the episode to find out. I know such a tease. Frankly though, if you haven't worked out the answers already then I have a bridge i would like to sell you.
- 29th May 2017 - Episode 329 'Hashtag Snazzy'
- In which Mike and Conrad!!!!!!! talk about what Conrad has been up to the last 6 months. This is the first of hopefully a few Conrad episodes this week and today its all (I say all but its Mike and Conrad so they go all over the place) about Bolt Action.
- 23rd May 2017 - Episode 328 'Sponsored by Depends'
- In which Mike and Matt fill in a survey. Honestly, that's what they do. Modiphius put up one looking for feedback on the forthcoming Fallout Game and Mike thought it would be a good idea to record them filling it in! Now the fact that it takes them an hour to fill in a 5 minute survey should tell you that they may get sidetracked. Also you can hear Matt wet himself live on air. Honestly you can. Its very very very funny. Fill in the survey yourself (and hopefully demonstrate better bladder control) at http://www.modiphius.com/fallout-wasteland-warfare-survey.html
- 12th May 2017 - Episode 327 'So Fickle'
- In which Mike and Matt talk discuss the attractions of new shiney and how they are drawn to play certain things in certain games. This all came about after Mike had an existential crisis brought on by the new 40k and the fact that he was trying to be good and use figures that he already had, rather than what he actually wanted to play.
- 9th May 2017 - Episode 326 'Guardians of Jar Jar'
- In which Mike and Matt review Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and wonder if they saw a different film to the rest of the country. After working themselves up into a good old rant - you can almost hear the spittle hitting the microphone they turn their attention to other movie sequels which gives Matt the chance to abuse Mike about picking predictable choices and then picking predictable ones himself. Well apart from his last choice which was a good one.
- 6th May 2017 - Episode 325 'Salute, what is it good for?'
- In which Mike and Matt discuss there adventures at Salute and wonder why the smaller manufacturers put themselves through it. Its seems to be a massive amount of stress and up front expenditure without getting a massive return. We also touch on things like having a set of rules to sell with your figures and visa versa. Interesting stuff like that. Oh and Matt swears which was frankly worth the editing just for his apologetic comments afterwards. Looking forward to the discussion about this episode a lot.
- 2nd May 2017 - Episode 324 'Warty Thou'
- In which we discover that the saying you can never go back is not strictly true. Yes Mike and Matt have been distracted by the forthcoming 8th edition of 40k and have a bit of a chat about what we know so far. Frankly its all the fault of Shadow War so we talk about that as well. Realise its been a while since the last episode but there is hope that in the next few months we can get back to something like a regular recording schedule. It would be nice.
March 2017
- 17th March 2017 - Episode 323 'Old Man Logan'
- In which, in honour of International Womens Day we have a special guest in the form of Bunty. We are supposed to be reviewing Logan and we do sort of but then we get all sort of sidetracked into other recent superhero movies, which then takes us to a little rant about DC movies and quite a big rant about Zac Synder. Oh and we talk about our mutant powers. Thats it really, though we do go on for quite a long time. Thanks to Bunty for putting up with the silliness. You can follow her on twitter @elessarion30
February 2017
- 17th February 2017 - Episode 322 'Plasma Destructors ahoy'
- In which Mike, Lee and Matt get all nostalgic about when they were mere pimply faced youths and got the first version of Adeptus Titanicus, starting them on the Epic (you see what I did there) journey of their gaming careers. What this actually means is that they have a chat about the new version of Titanicus that is coming sometime this year and talk about a few blurry photographs that are doing the rounds. The first way sounded a lot more poetic though.
- 8th February 2017 - Episode 321 'Let us Osprey'
- In which Mike and Matt have a catchup on the various Osprey rulesets that they have picked up over the last few months. Of course that doesn't mean they have actually played them but when has that ever stopped them giving an opinion. So basically you get first looks at Broken Legions and Chosen Men and a more in-depth discussion about Rogue Stars. Oh and they have 5 minutes on the new OGAM supplement Celts from Ganesha Games. You can also hear Matt try really really hard not to swear as he builds Malifaux plastics.
- 6th February 2017 - Episode 320 'No dice cups allowed'
- In which Mike and Lee, alongside a dalek impression by Matt talk Bloodbowl. Yes we do play GW games sometimes! Being old we've been playing BB for a long time and what better time to start playing again than the release of a lovely (and it really is lovely) new edition.
- 3rd February 2017 - Episode 319 'Welcome to 2017'
- In which we discover another episode that was recorded a while ago. If it had been put out at the time it was recorded it might be slightly more relevant than it is now but hey its content right? Anyway Mike, Matt and Lee talk how they sucked at 2016 resolutions and how they are going to do so much better this year. We all know that this is a lie but we all play along with it anyway. Apologies for the end, I believe its called technical difficulties.

December 2016
- 26th December 2016 - Episode 318 'Dystopian Wars'
- In which we discover that even though he is old Conrad has a better memory than Mike and reminded him that this episode was recorded like a month ago and then Mike completely forgot about it. In fact he forgot about it so completely that he has no idea what we talk about for an hour, only that its vaguely related to Dystopian Wars. What hope does this podcast have with an idiot like that in charge. I would ask for a refund if i was you.
November 2016
October 2016
- 20th October 2016 - Episode 316 'Catching up with Gonsalves'
- In which Mike and Conrad get to chat for an hour about everything that Mr Gonsalves has been up to over the summer. We cover Warmachine Mk III, Dystopian Wars, a little bit of Malifaux and then various WWII gaming type stuff. Amazingly Mike stays awake for all of it, even the Snoremachine discussion. You should treasure these gems with Conrad as he is very old and as you'll hear in the episode falling apart. Probably hasn't got long left with us and then these recordings will become part of the National Archive. And you will all be able to say, I knew him and he was great.
- 18th October 2016 - Episode 315 'Getting Serious'
- In which Mike and Matt get all serious and talk about how Matt is rubbish at games and then dive into his specific issues with Malifaux and how he is the worlds biggest chump when it comes to that particular game (well all games to be honest). We also talk about No More Room in Hell, the Fools Daily Roadshow, Daffcon and a little Kickstarter that the Terrain Shed is going to do. Phew, seems quite a lot when you write it all down.
September 2016
- 12th September 2016 - Episode 314 'Dreadlock Holiday'
- In which Mike and Matt talk about going to Trent Bridge to watch England make the highest ever 1 day international score of 444 as well as the highest ever one day score by an English batsman. The tale involves sunscreen, ostrich burgers, long long drives in the car with dodgy sat navs and a jolly good road trip. Oh yes, we also went to Warhammer World for Matts first visit. Well there has to be some gaming content right?
- 1st September 2016 - Episode 313 'I've missed him'
- Conrad, nothing more to say.
August 2016
- 30th August 2016 - Episode 312 'Other drinks are available'
- In which Mike and Matt talk about the other new gaming hotness of the moment, Congo. It seems likes its everywhere and Studio Tomahawk have made some great games in the past, but does Congo live up to that. Well we don't actually know because we haven't actually played yet. Which leaves this episode like an audio unboxing with a payoff to come later.
- 26nd August 2016 - Episode 311 'Stompy Robot Bang Band'
- In which Mike and Matt talk about the new game from Warlord / Clockwork Goblin, Konflict 47. Now Matt is predisposed to like it, Mike is predisposed to hate it (it has guns and nazis) so do either of them change their minds? Somehow I doubt it as they are both stubborn old fools but listen and prepare to be amazed - not that amazed though, its not like one of those really good magic tricks where you spend the next two days trying to work out how they did it or did perhaps J K Rowling actually right a non fiction book?
- 22nd August 2016 - Episode 310 'General Tito'
- In which Mike and Matt are joined by Joel to talk about their visit to Partizan. Of course it wouldn't be FD if they didn't talk about things like the Olympics TV coverage as well. Still they do talk about the show, Matt gets to name drop - CLANG!!! and Mike and Joel got to spend money.
- 3rd August 2016 - Episode 309 'Are we over Kickstarter'
- In which Mike and Matt talk about if the gaming industry is over Kickstarter, especially as a pre sale system. The discussion was started by the performance of the latest Mantic one and as is normal with FD goes in all sorts of different directions.
- 1st August 2016 - Episode 308 'Going Mainstream'
- In which Mike goes on a little rant. He is prone to these sort of things and frankly we should just be all happy that he isn't sitting around in his underwear yelling 'get orf my lawn' and 'pesky kids, wasn't like that in my day' Today he rants about games having ambitions of breaking out from that tabletop miniature wargamer market into the bigger boardgame market and failing miserably.
July 2016
- 29th July 2016 - Episode 307 'Its all Fallouts fault'
- In which we revisit Post Apocalyptic gaming, proving two things. One, we can't say apocalyptic and two, you should never ever get rid of figures from your lead pile as even though you might stop playing a game for a while, it WILL come back around again and you WILL be going, I'm sure I had some figures that would be perfect for that...
- 27th July 2016 - Episode 306 'Stop looking at me'
- In which we chat with Mark and Stu of Paranoid Miniatures about how work on Mythos is coming along. Having run a successful Kickstarter the guys are able to talk in depth about how that who process works, where they have got to and what the next stages are going to be before backers (like us) get miniatures in our hands. It gives a real insight into the game creation process of having the initial idea and taking it to market and highlights a lot of the pitfalls along the way.
- 20th July 2016 - Episode 305 'Thats the way we roll'
- In which Mike and Matt return to one of their favourite games of the moment in Dragon Rampant. After a brief plug for the small event they are running they get onto the meat of the discussion which is about the inherent randomness and swinginess of the game. Tehy talk about options such as rerolls and Lucky 7 cards as well as other turnover mechanic based games. Its all very intellectual and stuff.
- 19th July 2016 - Episode 304 'Million Degrees'
- In which we discover that the summer is here and with it the return of Fools Daily. Today Mike, Matt and Lee talk about what projects they are planning on working on over the summer, whats been going on in their lives and make terrible excuses about why there hasn't been an episode for 4 months. Its good to be back
March 2016
- 25th March 2016 - Episode 303 'Ain't no rest for the Malifools'
- In which we have our occasional Malifaux only chat. Well, almost only, there is a slight rant about what a terrible director Zack Synder is. So its Mike, Joel and Matt talking Faux. Not a lot else to say.
- 23rd March 2016 - Episode 302 'Wittering on'
- In which Mike and Conrad chat and record it at the same time. Its been a while so there is a lot to catch up on. Little bit of Malifaux, some painting, Kings of War, Dragon Rampant, Daffcon and 7TV are just some of the things they talk about in this lengthy special. Will try and be slightly more productive after Daffcon but who knows.
February 2016
- 8th February 2016 - Episode 301 'Iron Cross'
- In which Conrad waxes lyrical about his new love, Iron Cross from Great Escape Games. Mike is just basically along for the ride on this one given that he doesn't do WW2 games and has no intention of ever doing so. With that said though Conrad paints a compelling melodious picture of a fun game. Its not quite enough to convert Mike but it probably comes close.
- 3rd February 2016 - Episode 300 'Butterfly Gamers II'
- In which a long, rambling diatribe is broadcast. The 3 Amigos are joined by Pete to discuss Gaining Grounds 2016 for Malifaux, events we have planned and have attended and why London sucks if you are a gamer. Norfolk rules.
- 2nd February 2016 - Episode 299 'Age of Tyrants'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk with Mark Brendan about Age of Tyrants, a new 6mm sci fi game that is currently on Kickstarter.
January 2016
- 27th January 2016 - Episode 298 'Club vs. Store'
- In which Mike and Conrad discuss the problems of growing and keeping a gaming club viable vs. building a player base in a store. All sounds a bit serious and dull doesn't it but come on, this is the main team you are talking about, the living legend that is Conrad and his bestest sidekick Mike. They are down with the kids and everything. Init.
- 21st January 2016 - Episode 296 'Look at the teeth on that one'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk about the latest shiny to grab Mikes attention in the form of Dragon Rampant. Its another Osprey game and gives you an excuse to pull all your old fantasy figures out that you stashed away when AoS hit.
- 18th January 2016 - Episode 295 'Jolly good show chaps'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk about, in the main at least, In Her Majestys Name, Januarys game of the month. Mike has actually played now so goes through the game, discusses his new crew and how the game actually went. Clue, it was against Matt so the result was always a forgone conclusion.
- 13th January 2016 - Episode 294 'The Butterfly Gamers'
- In which 3 old duffers make plans which they then fail to complete. This is the first Butterfly Gamers episode, which is a longer form podcast where we will cover several different subjects in the same episode. Think of it as a Fools Daily on steroids. Oh and with different music.
- 12th January 2016 - Episode 293 'The Conrad Awakens'
- In which Mike and Conrad renew there 20 year partnership and do what they do. Which is basically meander around talking about some interesting stuff in between utter stupidity, today Conrad managed to pull out his headphones in the middle of recording. Remember you wanted us to come back.
- 11th January 2016 - Episode 292 'A New Hope'
- In which Mike explains why we went away, why we are now back and how having daily in the title should now be considered some sort of post modernist ironic statement.
October 2015
- 13th October 2015 - Episode 291 'Pay me'
- In which Mike and Conrad discuss becoming a Henchman / Pressganger etc. and what you should expect back from the company that you are supporting. Hint, the answer is nothing.
- 8th October 2015 - Episode 290 'Not this again'
- In which the famous five channel the spirit of grumpy and talk Kickstarter. Yes its the topic that just keeps on giving. In a twist in the usual what has Mike backed and pulled out of now, they discuss how many Kickstarted games have actually been sucessful in terms of longevity or is the fact they raise loads of money sucess enough.
- 5th October 2015 - Episode 289 'Stark Raving Bonkers'
- In which Mike is joined by Lee and Matt to talk about the #3peaksgaming challenge that they are going to do next year as well as the fact that Matt is going to run a marathon. We point out they are called snickers now but then Matt just gets all grumpy at us.
- 2nd October 2015 - Episode 288 'Plugging Daffcon'
- In which the famous five talk Daffcon schedules, how stuff is evolving, when tickets will be on sale and all manner of stuff related to the event.
- 1st October 2015 - Episode 287 'I went to a Guildball event and it was just fine'
- In which Joel talks to Mike about going to his first organised Guildball event. Thats it, they stay on topic, its the right length and it gets the information across. Don't worry though, tomorrow normal service will be resumed.
September 2015
- 30th September 2015 - Episode 286 'It aint dead'
- In which something unexpected happens
- 29th September 2015 - Episode 285 'Grumpy Guildball'
- In which a whole horde of people - its starts off at 3, by the end its 5 - talk Guildball. Its long and its rambling but I make no apologies for that as its a classic blokes down the pub talking gaming type episode.
- 28th September 2015 - Episode 284 'H/WM Nationals'
- In which Mike and Conrad discuss how Conrad got on at the Hordes/Warmachine Nationals a couple of weeks ago. At least that what it starts out as. It ends up going in a very different direction where they talk about the difference with various gaming communities and how judges / TOs insert themselves into games.
- 24th September 2015 - Episode 283 'So Jealous'
- In which Mike and Lee talk to Mike Hutchinson (@crikeymiles) about Gaslands, his Mad Max inspired car combat game. Surprises and excitement abound in the episode but you shall have to listen so that he can explain everything that is going on himself. Tease isn't it.
- 23rd September 2015 - Episode 282 'Roots of Magic, Part III'
- In which Mike and Conrad finish their talk with Des about "The Roots of Magic". Today we talk about what it has taken to get the game to the point it is now and where it is going to go next. Hopefully the passion that Des has for the game has come through over the last couple of days and got you interested in the next stage.
- 22nd September 2015 - Episode 281 'Roots of Magic, Part II'
- In which Mike and Conrad continue to talk to Des about "The Roots of Magic". Today we talk about the game itself.
- 21st September 2015 - Episode 280 'Roots of Magic, Part I'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk to Des (@happymrBrennan) about his forthcoming game "The Roots of Magic". I think most gamers have a dream about making their own game, either because there is a gap in the market or that they have played something and thought, well I can do better than that, but not all of us take the next step and do something about it. Des has. Hope you enjoy.
- 18th September 2015 - Episode 279 'Its not Monopoly, Part V'
- In which we finish our discussion about the recently published Guardian list of 20 board games that you haven't heard of - though being gamers you probably have. Today we each pick a game from our personal collections that didn't make the list and try and convince ourselves (and you) that it should have made the list. Anyone who knows us can probably guess what the games are right now. Thanks to the Matts for joining us all this week, its been a lot of fun.
- 17th September 2015 - Episode 278 'Its not Monopoly, Part IV'
- In which we continue to count down the recently published Guardian list of 20 board games that you haven't heard of - though being gamers you probably have. Today we count down the final five. Who will be an #1. Well if you've read the article then you already know, curse that freely available paper.
- 16th September 2015 - Episode 277 'Its not Monopoly, Part III'
- In which we continue to count down the recently published Guardian list of 20 board games that you haven't heard of - though being gamers you probably have. Today we count down from 10 to 6 and we have games that more than one of us has actually played. We are such bad gamers. Still on the plus side doing these rundowns probably generates some extra sales for folks which can only be good right?
- 15th September 2015 - Episode 276 'Its not Monopoly, Part II'
- In which we continue to count down the recently published Guardian list of 20 board games that you haven't heard of - though being gamers you probably have. Today we count down from 15 to 11. Its like ToTP this isn't it. I wonder who is Bruno Brookes?
- 14th September 2015 - Episode 275 'Its not Monopoly, Part I'
- In which we start a week long strand where we count down the recently published Guardian list of 20 board games that you haven't heard of - though being gamers you probably have. Joining Conrad and Mike in this exercise we have Mr Spooner and Mr Ledgerwood, one of whom has actually played some of the games. Today we count down from 20 to 16
- 11th September 2015 - Episode 274 'Otherworld'
- In which Mike talks to Wayne and Richard from Otherworld Miniatures about the newly launched Fantasy Skirmish game. We cover things like history of Otherworld, why make the decision to produce a set of rules and how the collaboration with Crooked Dice and the Action System came about. Its a really interesting chat that gives a great insight into the workings of a small miniature company in what is still very much a cottage industry.
- 10th September 2015 - Episode 273 'A Tale of Fail'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk Conrads resolutions. Its a typical tale of buffoonery as Conrad has lost his Q2 goals, didn't realise we were in Q3 and was pretty much all over the shop. Final grade F - and TBH I feel that is pretty generous. If this was the excellent School of Faux podcast with that teacher that sounds just like Richard Burton then his report card would definitely be saying could do better.
- 9th September 2015 - Episode 272 'Age of Conrad'
- UPDATED WITH CORRECT EPISODE - In which Mike and Conrad talk Age of Sigmar after playing some games and generally having fun with it. Thats pretty much it.
- 8th September 2015 - Episode 271 'Here's ...'
- In which Conrad returns. Yes I know he was in yesterdays episode as well but that was old stuff, this is new(ish). Anyway he and Mike talk about the Relic Knights event he went to in York over the summer. Can you guess where he finished?
- 7th September 2015 - Episode 270 'It's so pretty'
- In which you get to listen to another episode recorded whilst we were on our summer hols. In this one Conrad, Lee and Mike talk about Age of Sigmar. Now at the time this was recorded AoS wasn't even out and I'm pretty sure some of the stuff they talk about turned out differently but it was relevant when they recorded it. Ok so its not so relevant now, but hey, content is content and we weren't going to let it just sit on the cutting room floor.
- 4th September 2015 - Episode 269 'What to do on a plane'
- In which Joel and Matt talk about boardgames that have been turned into apps. That's pretty much it, as Mike and Conrad aren't on the show they actually stay on topic and everything. Note this was recorded whilst we were on holiday so some time references don't make sense anymore.
- 3rd September 2015 - Episode 268 'Down with the Empire'
- In which we discover that it is indeed possible to make a game that the guys don't like. It should have been a match made in heaven as Mike and Matt took on Imperial Assault but it turns out, well you should really listen to see how it turned out. Oh and you can also discover how whipped Matt is :)
- 2nd September 2015 - Episode 267 'Frostgrave'
- In which Mike and Matt try and convince Lee that he should spend some of his hard earned pennies on one of the new gaming hotness that is Frostgrave. This is a familiar tale for Lee as he is often subjected to entreaties to play the latest and greatest by the butterfly twins. This time however its all done so you can all listen as well and make up your minds. It is a really good game though.
- 1st September 2015 - Episode 266 'I know what you did last summer'
- In which Mike, Lee and Matt return from an extended summer hiatus and fill us in on what hobby they have been up to over the last couple of months. Its nice to be back.
June 2015
- 30th June 2015 - Episode 265 'Wyrd Watch'
- In which Mike and Lee have a chat with Justin Gibbs of Wyrd about the latest happenings in Malifaux. Gencon is coming up which is traditionally the time that Wyrd throw a boat load of new product at us so there is plenty to talk about. Starter sets, changes from the beta, what Justin thinks about the latest Miss model, yes we cover it all. Well we don't cover what he is working on now cause ssshh, thats a secret, but we do at least try.
- 29th June 2015 - Episode 264 'Full Circle'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk about the Malifaux UK doubles including their hopes for glory and trophies. I mean who doesn't like a bit of bling. This was recorded last week before the event but due to the laziness of the author, its only going up today, after the event has happened. Ridiculous if you ask me.
- 18th June 2015 - Episode 263 '#FDchallenge'
- In which Mike and Matt explain why they have been tweeting with #FDchallenge and ask you to get involved as well.
- 16th June 2015 - Episode 262 'Creepy'
- In which Mike and Conrad show why they shouldn't record late at night as they just go on and on and frankly on about stuff. I'm pretty sure they intended to talk about the extended gaming day that they were part of at Wayland any why Mike has fallen out of love with WoK (its Tuesday could well be the reason with him) and to be fair they do talk about that, there is just so much other stuff as well.
- 15th June 2015 - Episode 261 'Come in Daffcon Central'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk about how the planning for Daffcon is coming on. Seriously, that's all they talk about. What do you think this is, a long waffley show where we never get to the point and just add pointless stuff to pad out the running length?
- 11th June 2015 - Episode 260 'Paranoid Miniatures - Part II'
- In which we continue our chat with the guys from Paranoid Miniatures (@paranoidminis) about Mythos. Enjoy
- 10th June 2015 - Episode 259 'Paranoid Miniatures - Part I'
- In which Mike and Matt talk to the entire crew from Paranoid Miniatures (@paranoidminis) about their game, Mythos. What makes this different is that they have all known each other for 20 years and like I'm sure a lot of us, thought, this games designing lark is easy, lets go for it. And then, they have! However this is a tale of caution and baby steps rather than hitting up a big flashy kickstater, promising the earth and then failing to deliver and that's what makes it worth listening to. It helps that the art and miniatures for the game look great and who doesn't like a bit of tentacle goodness in their lives.
- 9th June 2015 - Episode 258 '90s Movies - Drama / Thriller'
- In which the same 3 blokes as the last few episodes pick more movies. Today you can see the effects of old age as Mike gets completely confused about which girl he went to the cinema with and picks a movie that wasn't even made in the 90s. We also talk guilty pleasures and frankly they really are a load of old cobblers. No movie chat tomorrow, back to proper subjects.
- 8th June 2015 - Episode 257 '90s Movies - Sci Fi / Fantasy'
- In which Mike picks the best SciFi movies of the 90s, and Matt and Lee collude in a Norfolk born and bred way to tell him he is wrong. Seriously, how anyone can pick Matts choice over Mikes as best movie is beyond me unless you are a backwards country bumpkin. Not that I am saying that about Lee. I mean have you seen the size of him?
- 5th June 2015 - Episode 256 '90s Movies - War / Western'
- In which Mike, Matt and Lee tackle another genre of movies. You know its really hard writing these blurbs when you are effectively talking about the same thing for 5 or 6 episodes. Can only say the same thing so many different ways after all. We talk films, Mike picks a not so good one due to personal reasons. Not a lot else to say.
- 4th June 2015 - Episode 255 '90s Movies - Comedy'
- In which Mike, Matt and Lee tackle the thorny subject of 90s comedy movies. What makes you laugh is a very personal thing, Some people find Seth MacFarlane movies funny and others think he is a talentless hack repeating toilet jokes over and over again. Thats what this episode is like.
- 3rd June 2015 - Episode 254 '90s Movies - Action'
- In which Mike and Matt, along with arbiter Lee start on a journey into 90s cinema with a discussion of action movies. As you would expect Mike goes all highbrow and poncey with his final choice whilst Matt is distracted by women in their underwear. Hopefully though they talked about at least a couple of your favourites.
- 2nd June 2015 - Episode 253 'Who needs a main game?'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk about the idea of having a main game. Thats it, short and to the point, unlike the discussion which is long, waffly and possible doesn't even make sense.
- 1st June 2015 - Episode 252 'Across Death Earth'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk some more Post Apocalyptic carnage in the form of Across Dead Earth. Mike has actually played a few games of it and I guess this counts as a review of the rules and discussion of how it actually works as a game.
May 2015
- 29th May 2015 - Episode 251 'How to spend money on Kickstarters'
- In which Mike and Conrad talk Kickstarter. Yes again. Lets face it, buying stuff off of Kickstarter is like buying stuff from an LGS (though with a slight! delay). So we talk Steampunk Horses, Route 666 and Home Raiders. We must talk about other things cause the episode runs 40 minutes but I'm buggered if I remember what else
- 28th May 2015 - Episode 250 'Welsh Open 2015'
- In which Mike and Conrad get back on track and talk about Conrads sojourn in the darkest parts of Wales to talk about the Welsh Open. And eventually they do talk about it but there are some detours into discussions about the latest Mad Max, Firestorm Games (home of next years Daffcon) and probably other bits and bobs that I have forgotten about. Really should write these notes as we actually do the recording.
- 27th May 2015 - Episode 249 'This is Not a Test - Part III'
- In which Mike and Joey finish up their discussion about This is Not a Test. Today its futures, possible kickstarters, new books and Mikes #1 wanted, a hardback copy of the rulebook.
- 26th May 2015 - Episode 248 'This is Not a Test - Part II'
- In which Mike and Joey continue to talk about This is Not a Test. In today's chat they discuss the rules themselves, how you build a gang and all the other goodies that actually make up a game. This may take some time :)
- 25th May 2015 - Episode 247 'This is Not a Test - Part I'
- In which Mike and Joey from WorldsEndPublishing talk about TNT, Joeys post apocalyptic ruleset. Today they talk about where the name came from, the inspirations behind the game and how it went through the painful process of actually becoming a reality.
- 14th May 2015 - Episode 246 'Hanging out in the PABB'
- In which Mike and Conrad discover that, surprise surprise, Mike has been distracted by new toys and is off thinking about playing some Post Apocalyptic gaming. How this fits in with his whole philosophy of not liking games with guns I don't know but apparently it does. They talk in the main about a couple of different rulesets Across the Dead Earth and This is not a Test and the very different design philosophies that the games bring to the table.
- 13th May 2015 - Episode 245 'Relic Knights Revisited'
- In which Conrad and Mike talk about the recent announcement from Ninja Division that a second wave of Relic Knights along with a new book are on the way within the next year. It seems only a few weeks ago that we were lamenting the lack of news and releases for the game and now we get the promise of a whole new book. Its almost as if folks do actually listen to these ramblings.
- 12th May 2015 - Episode 244 'Bolt Action'
- In which Conrad and Jimmy talk Bolt Action. Despite moaning about how he doesn't have any time to game Conrad has decided to take up yet another system and this week it happens to be Bolt Action. As you would expect he knows nothing about it at all but fortunately JImmy is on hand to help him out. This is one game that you wont be getting Mike to play so you won't have to put up with him droning on and on about it.
- 11th May 2015 - Episode 243 'So many pretty colours'
- In which Rich and Webby talk paint. You know the stuff that some of us put on our models to make them look less silver (or grey) like. Now admittedly we don't all put it on as well as Webby does but does that matter? So long as you have made the effort, thats all I ask.
- 8th May 2015 - Episode 242 'Not more Guildball'
- In which Mike and Conrad discuss why Mike hasn't bought into the new gaming hotness that is Guildball. Its a wide ranging discussion including Doris Day, WWII and Bendyboards!
- 7th May 2015 - Episode 241 'Kickstarter, a new perspective'
- In which Mike and Jo from Oathsworn Miniatures discuss the use of kickstarter by a small miniatures business. What makes this different from other Kickstarter chats is that they are a small miniature company. It gives a real interesting insight into the decisions that have to be made to get your figures out to the market.
- 6th May 2015 - Episode 240 'Batman Pt 2'
- In which Dom continues to talk to Jimmy (@jbalderstone) and Rob (@derby_malal) about the Batman miniatures game. You can get nice terrain for it from bendyboards.co.uk. Just saying.
- 5th May 2015 - Episode 239 'Batman Pt 1'
- In which Dom talks to Jimmy (@jbalderstone) and Rob (@derby_malal) about yet more gaming hotness in the form of the Batman Miniatures Game from Knight Models. They rabbited on for quite a bit so Mike made an arbitrary decision to just crudely cut the episode into two parts. He is mean like that.
- 4th May 2015 - Episode 238 'Dead Mans Chest'
- In which Mike admits he loves pirates. In fact he loves them so much that he wants to write a game so he can use the many pirate models he has. Of course as Mike is a lazy good for nothing so and so, he decides to just make a mod of someone elses game. Thats the way he rolls, profiting off of the hard work of others, like a 19th Century Mill Owner. Can you not see him in a top hat saying the poor workers must be thrown out in the snow as they can't afford to pay the tuppence hapn'y rent. I certainly can.
- 1st May 2015 - Episode 237 'Conrad does Salute'
- In which Conrad goes on and on about his experience at Salute. Pity poor old Mike having to listen to this waffle. Anyway, this turns into him talking about all the goodies he bought and rubs it in the face of all the listeners that he got to buy a load of stuff. What a cruel and evil man he is. Still at the end of the day we all love him and will forgive these little quirks.
